I’ve been fortunate to have had lots of lovely cats in my life. Here is a short blog on all of my pet cats.
Geordie
My mum and dad got Geordie in Perth, Australia and brought him back to the UK when they came home. He was 12 when I was born but we became very close and he lived to the ripe old age of 21. I think my love of cats in general started because of Geordie, he was an amazing, big, friendly boy.
Charlie
Charlie was my parents cat. I don’t remember Charlie very well as he passed away when I was very young. Mum always tells me that he would go outside for the ice cream van and lie in front of it on the road until they bought him an ice cream. He was also a famous nose biter!
Tugger & Jenny
Tugger and Jenny are siblings, who we got after Geordie passed away. They are named after characters in T. S. Eliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats” – the Rum Tum Tugger and Jennyanydots. When we got Tugger and Jenny we also had a dog called Bonnie, who decided that they were her puppies and took care of them. Jenny in particular loved Bonnie.
Belle
One day during a routine visit to the vets my step-dad spotted that they were keeping a cat looking for a home. The cat had been brought in to be put to sleep, but the vets had refused and kept her so that they could find her a new home themselves. She was still at the vets two weeks later, so Belle came to live with us. She was scared at first, she didn’t get on with Jenny and Tugger and the dogs frightened her. She eventually settled in and became more affectionate as she did.
Rory
We adopted Rory as a kitten from West Lothian Cats Protection in 2012. My husband had never owned a cat before and it took some convincing to get him agree to cat ownership. We went to rehoming day where we met Rory (who at the time was named Burbank) and decided that we wanted to give him a home. Rory loves fish, sleeping and is the only cat I’ve had who likes his carry box.
Mac
Mac is the latest addition to out cat family. We adopted Mac as a kitten from West Lothian Cats protection in 2015. His mother was rescued when she was pregnant and gave birth to her litter in the cat foster owners home. Don’t worry though, Cats Protection made sure that she found a loving forever home too, as did all of Mac’s siblings. He will be 1 year old this month and is absolutely obsessed with cat milk.

Great stories, then most cat owners have great stories of their cats! 21 is a fantastic old age for a cat. None of mine ever made it past 17. You might think about “cutting and pasting” this onto a new page so it is always in the limelite.

I might do that! Geordie was a great old cat and global adventurer. I should have said that Tugger only left us in 2015 and also made it to 21!

It can be easily referenced as a page rather than scrolling down daily into oblivion! I thought it was a super post, by the way.

Thank you 😸 I’ve been meaning to do a post like this for a while. I was at my mum’s house this weekend and spent some time going through our old family photos to find the pictures for the post.
