West Highland Way Trek – Complete

On Sunday we completed our biggest challenge to raise money for Cats Protection, the 96 mile West Highland Way Trek.  It was tough going and I think I’ll be recovering for a couple of weeks!

Trekking the West Highland Way

Although I am taking part in a number of challenges this year for Cats Protection the main event is definitely the West Highland Way trek, which I’m doing with my husband Paul.

The West Highland Way is 96 miles long and we plan to walk it over five days.  To add to the challenge we’re going to be camping all the way and carrying our things.  Five days is a stretch for us as most guides recommend walking over seven or eight days.   Continue reading

Edinburgh Hills and History

Today Paul and I went for a walk around the hills of Edinburgh city centre and took in some of the history on our way.

Holyrood Park & Arthur’s Seat

We started out with a walk around Holyrood Park and up Arthur’s seat, the first of three hills on our route.  Holyrood Park is a slice of countryside in the middle of Edinburgh City Centre.  A former royal hunting ground, and the site of a number of bronze age forts, the area was designated as a park by King James V in the 16th century. Why I’m bad at keeping New Years resolutions

It’s coming up to the time of year when we’re supposed to be thinking of our resolutions for 2017.  Perhaps something that we want to change about ourselves, a fitness goal or perhaps take up a new hobby.  For me it’s the time of year where I join a gym and then never go past the second week of January.
